Raw Mango and Onion Salad | Kachche Aam aur Pyaaz ka Kachumber

Summer is the season for mangoes and so we make many recipes taking advantage of the delicious mangoes. This is a simple salad or kachumber which will surely tickle your tastebuds with its tangy, sweet, spicy and sour tastes.

You have to serve this raw mango and onion salad immediately after adding all the spices. You can chop raw mango and onions in advance. But we suggest you to add spices at the time of serving. After adding all the spice powders, the salad will leave its moisture after a few minutes, so you will have to serve it immediately to enjoy its crunch. So to save time, you can chop onions and raw mangoes and separately mix all the spice powders and keep aside. At the time of serving, you just need to add the spice mix to the chopped onion and raw mango, mix well and serve.

Ingredients (1 cup = 240 ml) 

US Customary - Metric
  • ½ big sized raw mango
  • 1 onion
  • ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds/jeera power
  • ¼ teaspoon coriander/dhaniya powder
  • ½ teaspoon powdered sugar
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel and grate mango.
  • Peel and grate Onion.
  • In a bowl, combine chopped raw mango and onion.
  • Add salt, red chilli powder, jeera powder, dhaniya powder and powdered sugar. Mix well.
  • Serve this tangy kachumber as a side dish along with your lunch or dinner.
