Date and Apple Kheer is a twist to the traditional kheer recipe with rice. We have tried to make it more healthy and sugar free yet delicious. So this is a quick and easy kheer recipe that caters to your sweet tooth and which is healthy, given the nutritional benefits of dates and apples.
About This Recipe
Natural sweetness of dates, apple and raisins, acts as a natural sweetening agent and hence you will not feel the need to add sugar to this recipe.

Can we consume this kheer for vrat (fasting) ?

Step by Step Recipe
- Heat ghee in a pan and add grated apples. Cook this mixture on a medium flame for about 8-9 mins or till moisture evaporates. Remove from flame and let it cool down to room temperature.
- Heat milk in a deep non-stick pan and bring to a boil.
- Once it boils, add chopped dates and let it simmer for about 7-8 minutes. Then add raisins and cook for another 2-3 mins. Remove from flame and let it cool down to room temperature.
- Once both our mixtures cool down completely, add the apple mixture to milk.
- Mix well and refrigerate for 2-3 hours before serving.
- Serve chilled.
Tips & Tricks
- Grate apples only when you are ready for cooking. Do not grate and keep in advance.
- It is very important to cook apples with ghee. Make sure all the moisture evaporates and apples are cooked well, otherwise milk will curdle.
- When you combine apples and dates+milk mixture, make sure both the mixtures are at room temperature. If either of the mixtures is hot, it will curdle the milk and the kheer will get spoilt.
- You can saute apples in ghee and keep in refrigerator as well.
- You can also add chopped nuts to this kheer to make it more filling and add extra crunch.
- Apples and cinnamon go very well, so if would like to flavor this kheer, then try pinch of cinnamon powder.

- 1 teaspoon ghee
