The name says it all. This green chutney is a popular lip-smacking delicacy from Rajkot, Gujarat. The combination that is usually paired with Rajkot’s famous green chutney is potato wafers. The Rajkot green chutney requires a few basic ingredients and can be paired with many snacks. The main highlight is that you can even enjoy this chutney during vrat or fasting.

Ingredients to make Rajkot Green Chutney

Raw Peanuts – this chutney is made with raw peanuts; there is no need to roast or peel the peanuts.

Green Chilies – this chutney is on the spicier side, but you can adjust the proportion of chillies as per your taste.

Lemon Juice – commercially nimbu ka phool or citric acid is added to increase the shelf life of this chutney. But we have added lemon juice for a tangy taste.

Salt – you can add sendha namak if you are consuming this chutney for vrat.

Turmeric – if you want to consume the chutney during vrat (fasting) and do not consume turmeric during vrat, you can skip adding it.

How to make Rajkot Green Chutney | Step-by-Step Recipe

Take raw peanuts in a mixer jar. Blend coarsely.

Now take out the crushed peanuts in a bowl.

In the same jar, add chili pieces, lemon juice, turmeric powder, and salt. Blend.

Now add crushed peanuts and blend again. Add water if you prefer a slightly thin consistency.

Serve this Rajkot green chutney with any snacks.

Ingredients (1 cup = 240 ml)

  • ½ cup raw peanuts / moongphali
  • ⅓ cup green chilies, chopped in pieces
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon or pinch of turmeric if you want to consume the chutney during vrat (fasting) and do not consume turmeric during vrat, you can skip adding it
