Eggless Whole Wheat Double Chocolate Banana Cake in Pressure Cooker

The best way to use ripe bananas is to make banana cake. We have already shared the recipe for Eggless Banana Walnut Cake.  This is whole wheat double chocolate banana cake that we have baked in a pressure cooker. We have named it as double chocolate as we have added cocoa powder plus chocolate chips to our cake.

This is a simple and quick to assemble tea-time cake. Also a great option to serve for hi-tea or to include in your brunch menu.  We have decorated the cake with colourful sprinkles. You can pour melted dark/semi-sweet or white chocolate over the cake or can even enjoy it plain.

If you like nuts in your cake for the extra crunch, you can add chopped walnuts to the batter, as banana and walnuts goes really well.

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour/gehun ka atta
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 2.5 tablespoon cocoa powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • ¼ cup curd
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • ⅓ cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Grease a baking tin with butter and line it with parchment paper.
  • Remove the whistle and gasket from the lid of pressure cooker. Add salt in the base of the cooker and spread it with hands. Salt should be enough to cover the base of cooker.
  • Cover it with lid and let it pre-heat on a medium heat for 5-10 minutes.
  • Sift wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder. Keep aside.
  • Take 2 ripe bananas in a wide bowl and mash with a vegetable masher. To it add powdered sugar, oil and curd and whisk well.
  • Now add vanilla essence and mix well.
  • Now add the dry ingredients in 2 batches. Mix well till everything gets combined well.
  • Add about ½ cup water and mix. Batter should be of smooth pouring consistency. Add water gradually.
  • Now add chocolate chips and fold gently.
  • Pour the batter into greased baking tin. Tap 4-5 times.
  • Open the lid of pressure cooker, put a stand at the bottom and place our cake mould on it.
  • Close the lid and bake on medium heat for about 40-45 minutes. Baking time will vary as per the size of cooker and size of baking tin. We suggest you remain alert after 35 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean, cake is ready. If it doesn’t come out clean, bake for a few more minutes.
  • Remove the tin, cover with a cloth and let it cool. Once slightly cool, invert on a plate and remove parchment paper. Be careful while unmolding the cake.
  • Serve and enjoy this yummy Whole Wheat Double Chocolate Banana Cake.
