Besan Ladoo, also known as Besan ke Laddoo, is a traditional Indian delicacy made especially for festivals such as Holi and Diwali. But what if we told you that you could now indulge in these besan ladoos guilt-free? Yes, you heard it right. This sugar-free besan ladoo recipe does not have any sugar, jaggery, or artificial sweeteners.
These sugar-free besan ladoos derive their sweetness from dates and raisins. Plus, we have added cashews and almond powder to make it even more healthy. Also, the natural sweetness from the nuts gives a very nice flavor to the ladoos.
How to make Sugar Free Besan Ladoo | Step-by-Step Recipe
In a non-stick pan, heat 2 teaspoons of ghee on a low flame.

Once ghee melts, add besan.

Stir continuously and roast for 4-5 minutes till it becomes light brown in color and fragrant.

Once roasted well, take out the mixture on a plate.

In a separate pan, heat 1 teaspoon of ghee and add the chopped dates.

Cook for 3-4 minutes on medium-low heat.

While cooking, continue mashing the dates with a spatula. You can also mash the dates with a vegetable masher.

Once dates become soft, add raisins, powdered nuts, and elaichi powder. Mix well. Keep the flame on low heat.

Now add the roasted besan mixture and mix. Cook for a few seconds till everything is mixed. Now switch off the flame and remove the mixture on a plate. Let the mixture cool down a bit.

Once the mixture cools down a bit, mix everything well so it becomes easy to make ladoos. Take small portions and shape ladoos. If while shaping ladoos you feel the mixture is dry, you can add little ghee. This quantity yields about 7 ladoos.

Pro Tips
- If while shaping ladoos you feel the mixture is dry, you can add little ghee.
- Keep the flame on low, while roasting besan.
- We have added elaichi powder for the flavor. But if you don’t like the taste, you can skip adding it. You can even add nutmeg powder.
