Raab (Traditional Gujarati Sweet Warm Drink)
Raab is a traditional Gujarati sweet warm drink with the goodness of whole wheat flour and jaggery. This is the sweet recipe that you can enjoy guilt-free and that gives you instant energy. This is a great option for kids and to-be mothers for building their immunity.
We have prepared raab with whole wheat flour. You can also prepare raab with bajra flour and ragi flour instead of whole wheat flour. Apart from giving you instant energy, raab works great for giving you relief from cough and cold. We have added only dry ginger powder (saunth powder). But if you want to consume raab for treating cold and cough, you can also add black pepper powder and ajwain (carom seeds).

Ingredients (1 cup = 240 ml)
- 1.5 tablespoon whole wheat flour/gehun ka atta
- 1.5 tablespoon ghee/clarified butter
- 1.5 cups water
- 2 tablespoon jaggery/gur
- ¼ teaspoon of dry ginger powder/saunth powder optional
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and add whole wheat flour. Keep stirring and cook on a medium flame till flour changes its colour to golden brown.
- Meanwhile, in another pan, combine water and jaggery. Heat till the mixture comes to a boil and jaggery dissolves completely.
- Strain the jaggery-water mixture and add to the pan containing ghee-wheat flour, while stirring continuously. Make sure you add the jaggery-water mixture when it is hot.
