Whole Wheat Jam Swiss Rolls in Kadai with step by step photos | eggless, without oven – quick and easy-to-make swiss rolls that gets ready with few ingredients.

We have used mixed fruit jam for these eggless swiss rolls, but you can flavour it with your favourite jam (pineapple, strawberry, orange…) or you can even spread nutella or chocolate sauce.

These swiss rolls are –

  • eggless
  • prepared using whole wheat flour
  • prepared without oven – in non-stick pan

If you want to make the quickest and easiest swiss rolls, do have a look at these 2-Ingredient Oreo Swiss Roll in non-stick pan (eggless)

Why Swiss roll becomes hard?

Swiss rolls sometimes turn hard and may crack while rolling. One of the reason for this can be that there is excess flour or lack of moisture in the swiss roll batter. Second reason is that you have to roll and shape this when it is hot. If the cake slice has turned cold, then it may crack while rolling.

How to make Whole Wheat Jam Swiss Rolls in Kadai | Step-wise process :

  • In a wide bowl, take sugar, oil, curd and milk. Whisk well until everything gets combined well.
  • Now sift and add dry ingredients – whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Gently stir until everything gets mixed well. Now gradually add water and mix well to get a lump-free and dropping consistency batter. Quantity of water will depend on the type of flour.

  • Take 1-2 tablespoon mixed fruit jam in a bowl and whisk with a spoon till it becomes smooth and easily spreadable. Keep aside.
  • Heat a thick bottomed non-stick pan on medium flame and brush it with little oil.
  • Pour the batter and tilt the pan to spread the batter evenly. You can also spread it with a spatula.
  • Cover and let it cook on a low-medium flame till it leaves the sides of the pan and bubbles appear on top.

  • Insert a toothpick into the middle. If it comes out clean, base is ready. If it doesn’t come out clean, cook for a few more minutes.
  • Lightly lift the edges with a spatula and place cooked sponge over a kitchen towel.
  • Now spread jam over the sponge.
  • Roll immediately. We need to do this step when roll is hot.

  • Cover the roll with kitchen towel and place it in refrigerator for atleast 1 hour or till it becomes firm.
  • Cut into slices and enjoy.
