Homemade sauces are always better than the store bought ones. This recipe for pizza sauce is quick and easy. No need to blanch tomatoes first.
Pre-preparation involves just chopping garlic, onions and tomatoes. This sauce requires very few basic ingredients. We have added fresh basil leaves to our sauce, but if you do not get fresh basil leaves, you can add dried basil too. Also you can adjust pepper powder and oregano to taste.

Ingredients (1 cup = 240 ml)
- 4 medium sized tomatoes roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2-3 garlic cloves chopped
- 1 medium sized onion roughly chopped
- ½ - 1 teaspoon sugar
- salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- ¼ teaspoon pepper powder
- 4-5 basil leaves chopped
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan. Add roughly chopped garlic and onions. Saute till onions turn transparent.
- Now add chopped tomatoes. Mix and cook till tomatoes turn soft and pulpy.
- Remove from flame. Let the mixture cool down a bit. Transfer to a mixer jar and blend to a smooth puree.
- Transfer the blended puree in a pan and reheat. Saute for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add salt to taste, sugar, oregano, pepper powder and give a quick stir.
- In the end, add chopped basil leaves, mix and switch off the flame. Pizza sauce is ready.
