Homemade granola is much healthier as compared to the store-bought ones, since they contain a lot of sugar and preservatives. And plus – it is much cheaper to make your own homemade granola.
This homemade granola recipe is a perfect and healthy way to start your day. You can add any of your favourite nuts, dried fruits, seeds to this healthy homemade granola. How to make Homemade Granola – Step By Step Recipe
In a non-stick pan, add oats and dry roast on medium flame for 8-10 minutes. Keep stirring.

Now add mixed seeds (flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds & sunflower seeds) and nuts. Further, dry roast on a low-medium flame for about 8-10 minutes.

Now add dried cranberries (or raisins) and dates and roast for another 5 minutes or till the mixture is roasted well.

Once you notice that everything is roasted well, switch off the flame and add brown sugar. Mix well and let the mixture cool down.

Store it in an airtight container.

How to prepare homemade granola in convection/oven?
Mix all the ingredients except dried fruits and brown sugar and bake at 120-130 degrees for 15-20 minutes, stirring in between. After 15-20 minutes, add dried fruits, mix and again bake for 5 minutes.
Once done, add brown sugar, mix and let it come to room temperature.
How do you keep homemade granola crispy?
Let the granola mix come to room temperature. Once cooled, store homemade granola mix in an air-tight container. If you feel that after some time, granola is not crispy, then again roast on a medium flame in a pan. Alternatively, you can also spread it on a baking tray and bake at 120-130 degrees for 15-20 minutes, stirring in between. This will make your granola crispy and fresh.
Storage & Shelf life
Once cooled, store homemade granola mix in an air-tight container. This will stay fresh for 1 month at room temperature. After that, you can shift the container to refrigerator. Also, shelf life will depend on the ingredients used.
Serving Suggestions
You can enjoy this granola plain or can even add chopped fresh fruits and milk.

- We have added brown sugar, but you can also use jaggery powder or powdered rock sugar (mishri).
- You can vary the proportion of nuts, seeds and dried fruits as per your choice.
- We have roasted everything on stovetop but can even roast this in oven/convection. Mix all the ingredients except dried fruits and brown sugar and bake at 120-130 degrees for 15-20 minutes, stirring in between. After 15-20 minutes, add dried fruits, mix and again bake for 5 minutes.

Ingredients (1 cup = 240 ml)
- 1.5 cups quick cooking oats/rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon flaxseeds
