Instructions
Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add dry red chili and cumin seeds.
Once it splutters, add green chilli and finely chopped onions and sprinkle a pinch of salt. Saute until onions turn transparent. Adding salt while cooking onions, prevents it from sticking and getting burnt.
Then add coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and chaat masala and saute for 1-2 minutes till everything gets blended well. Adjust salt level at this stage.
Remove from flame and allow it cool for a while.
In a wide bowl, add wheat flour, salt (just about a pinch) and prepared onion mixture. Mix well and prepare a soft and smooth dough adding water gradually. In the end add about a teaspoon oil and knead well. Cover and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
Divide the dough into 5 equal parts and make balls out of it.
Dust a little flour and roll out the dough into a paratha.
Heat a tawa/non stick pan and place the paratha.
Cook the paratha using little oil till golden brown spots appears on both sides.
Repeat the same steps to make more parathas.
Serve these yummy onion parathas hot with curd or chutney or pickle.
Notes
•We suggest to chop the onions in a chopper or food processor, as we require finely chopped onions for the dough. The more finely chopped onions, the easier it would be to roll out the parathas.•If you want to make stuffed parathas, you can prepare the stuffing as per the method and then instead of adding the mixture to the flour, you can stuff the mixture into the parathas.
