You are all set to prepare delicious yummy sooji halwa….all the family members are waiting eagerly for the dessert…you go to the kitchen..re-open the container in which you have kept sooji and find out that there are lumps formed in it and ….it has got spoilt.
So now, what should be done to prevent such an incident?
The best way to preserve sooji and prevent it from spoiling is to dry roast suji/rava/semolina prior to storing.
So lets learn how to dry roast sooji/rava/semolina….
For dry roasting sooji, heat a non-stick pan and add sooji. Roast on a medium flame for a few minutes, till all the moisture evaporates i.e. sooji should become crisp and light. Keep on stirring while roasting, otherwise chances are that sooji will get burnt.
Once done, immediately remove it from heat. Let it cool at room temperature and store it in an airtight container to preserve it for a longer period of time without getting spoilt.
Plus dry roasted sooji also reduces cooking time of your favourite dishes that are prepared using it ….like…Sooji Halwa, Upma, Rava Uttapam….
