For making fresh bread crumbs

  • Cut the sides of the bread slices. You may even choose to keep the sides.
  • Make small pieces and grind them in a mixer/blender to a fine powder.

Tips for making fresh bread crumbs

  • Bread slices should be refrigerated well before grinding.
  • If the slices are not cold and stiff, then they won’t be properly crushed. So, in case you are using fresh bread that is soft, then refrigerate the slices for atleast 1-2 hours before grinding them.
  • Store in an air-tight container and place in refrigerator. They can be stored for about 1-2 days.

For making dry bread crumbs

  • Cut the bread slices into small square pieces.
  • Place the bread pieces in a baking tray and bake at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until the pieces becomes crisp.
  • Just keep a check after 10 minutes and make sure that both the sides are well toasted.
  • Now remove them from oven and let them cool down completely.
  • Take them in a mixer/blender jar and blend to fine crumbs. You can choose to have either coarse crumbs or fine crumbs. Depending on what consistency you want, crush them accordingly.
